Are you in the market to update you swimsuit? You'll almost
certainly want more than one suit for each type of occasion you attend. Most of us have a different style when at a
private pool than at a public beach. Do not listen to what everyone
else is saying about fashion when choosing a swimsuit. You want to pick the suit that fits you
comfort zone and expresses your personality.
There are many different styles that you will look
at but briefs offer the most benefit in their cut. They are the choice made by competitive
swimmers for racing and training because they allow for a full range of
motion. They are a least conservative
option but they have a V-shape front and a solid form fitting back which is
very flattering. You will find that this
style is the style chosen most. Explore
styles for yourself but I think you will come back to the brief more often than
not.
First thing that happens when you look for bathing swimsuits for men is your eye is
drawn to the color and pattern that you like.
Once you have determined what pleases you visually you need to look at
your bathing suit at a different level.
You want something that handles moisture properly. The material your suit is made of should wick
the wet away from you for quick drying.
It should be a breathable material.
When you step out of the water and dry off you don’t want that sticky
feeling you want to feel once you have dried off that you are cool, dry and
most importantly, COMFORTABLE. Comfort
is key.
Sizing is important. Make sure you pick your suit based on your
actual measurements not what you think they should be. You are the only one who will know your
measurements so get an accurate reading and order the size that truly fits. A
suit too snug, one that leaves deep creases in your skin, makes you look
heavier because it forces any unwanted weight to bulge. A suit fitted properly will fit just tight
enough that it outlines your natural form and won’t fall off while swimming.
Now that you have a suit that is visually pleasing,
constructed from the right material and fits your body type you need to think
about stain resistance. You don’t want
to sit on the beach or on the grass and have a permanent stain that ruins your suit. Look for a suit that also handles releasing
the stain from the fabric once you wash it out or even once you re-enter the
pool or ocean.
Lastly, UPF protection should be on your list. You want to make sure your sun protection is
at least a 50+. You may say that it is
not that important but what we don’t take into account is even an hour’s worth
of exposure a few days a week can build up on our skin and we can run the risk
of developing skin issues. You will
appreciate your sun protective suit after you have spent many hours out
enjoying your day.
So remember, comfort, style, UPF protection and
material that is forgiving is critical.
Don’t be afraid to move up a size if you think you need a little more
breathing room. No one is going to know
what size your suit is but they will notice if you have squeezed into something
slightly too small. You want to look
like you put care into your selection and it’s a suit that reflects you.
So enjoy, select the suit that fits your
personality and don’t be afraid to experiment with color and pattern. Pick more than one so that you have options
for your outings and just have fun with all your water sports and time at the
beach!
